A May Day Celebration

Try at home…

Natural Green Play-Dough

For this pop-up party, I adapted an all-natural play-dough recipe from The Imagination Tree (check her out for so many amazing ideas!)

Here’s the recipe I used:

  • 2 1/4 cups flour

  • 1/2 cup salt

  • 2 TB cream of tartar

  • 3 TB coconut oil (melted)

  • 3 TB matcha powder

  • 2 cups boiling water

In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients and then add the oil. Stir matcha powder into the boiling water before adding to the rest of the ingredients. It will seem very wet at first, but keep stirring! Once it’s cool enough, knead the dough with your hands until smooth.

It’s so fun to add natural elements to this green play dough! Extend the fun with your kids by hunting outside together for sticks, leaves, flowers, and stones to play with.

Sticky Nature Bracelet

At the pop-up party, we created nature collages with clear contact paper in cardboard frames. Try making a portable version by looping a length of duct tape or packing tape, sticky side out, around your child’s wrist. Voila- a nature bracelet! Go for a walk together (or just send them to the backyard!) to add grasses, leaves, and flowers to their sticky bracelet.
