Valentine Chocolate Play Dough (with a free printable!)

IMG_3595.JPG

Chocolate scented play dough can bring a new level of fun to pretend play.  Your kids will have a blast making pretend candies, ice cream, cookies, and cakes. Dig in your cabinets for all kinds of "toppings." Some favorites at our house include sequins, buttons, beads, and pom poms- anything goes!

I thought this play dough would be the perfect non-candy Valentine's Day gift: all the fun with none of the sugar!

First, I'll give you the basic recipe.  It's no cook, so super quick and easy for kids to help.

Keep scrolling to see how I divided the recipe to share with friends (definitely in the spirit of The Love Monster), and don't forget to grab my free printable for your Valentine gifts!

No Cook Chocolate Play Dough Recipe

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 4 Tb vegetable oil
  • 1 1/3 cups hot water

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.  Add oil and mix again.  Slowly add hot water, eventually kneading with your hands until no longer sticky.  (Play dough recipes can be a bit finicky... if your mixture is still super sticky, try adding another sprinkle of flour!)
