Hello! I’m Anna, creator of KidLitCrafts, a former middle school language arts teacher, an early childhood educator, and a hopelessly messy crafter.

As a lifelong lover of books, I am absolutely thrilled that my two young kids share my passion. We're lucky enough to live in a city with an incredible library system (thanks, Allen County Public Library!) so our love can be explored without breaking the bank. Every week, we visit our library in search of our next favorite book. I started this site and my Instagram account in part as a way to share my finds with you!

While I believe that raising readers is clearly important, raising creative kids is no less vital. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why I like to use the stories we read as a jumping off point to stimulate creativity. So many of these books are truly inspirational. I’ll share the projects we do- what worked and what didn’t- in hopes that you’re inspired to create as well.

I know that art with kids can feel overwhelming: it can be crazy and messy and sticky and loud. But the benefits are so worth it: critical thinking, problem solving, language building… the list goes on and on. Not to mention the incalculable benefit of giving your children a lifelong love of art.

With this site and kid art pop-ups for Fort Wayne locals, I hope to give you the inspiration, practical advice, and support you need to bring a little more creativity into your home. I’m a lifelong believer in the power of both story and art.  Let's allow our kids to experience that magic, mess and all.
